Expanding Reach to Eastern Sudan
Strategically located in one of Sudan’s most vital border regions, the Kassala Steel Plant is the latest addition to Zat Al-Emad Group’s national production network, furthering the Group’s mission to decentralize industrial capacity and bring essential materials closer to regions of growth.
Currently under construction, this facility is designed to mirror the scale, sophistication, and efficiency of the Group’s flagship plants in Khartoum and Wad Medani.
A Strategic Extension to the East
Kassala is a growing hub for trade, agriculture, and infrastructure development. With increasing demand for high-quality construction materials in the eastern corridor, the new plant will provide a regionally accessible supply of structural steel—reducing reliance on distant suppliers and cutting logistics costs for contractors and developers.
Its proximity to the Eritrean border and trade routes also enhances its potential as a cross-border export point in the future.
Facility Overview
Upon completion, the Kassala Steel Plant will feature:
- Three production hangars totaling 30,000 square meters
- Advanced production lines for rolling, cutting, and shaping
- Projected capacity: Up to 6,000 tons of steel per month
- In-house quality control and material testing laboratory
- Seamless integration with Zat Al-Emad’s logistics and warehousing systems
Product Portfolio
The plant will produce a complete portfolio of construction-grade steel products, all manufactured to international performance and safety standards:
- Reinforcement Bars (Rebar)
- Galvanized Steel Sheets
- Hot/Cold Rolled Coils

These offerings are intended to serve a wide range of infrastructure, housing, commercial, and government development initiatives in eastern Sudan.
Strategic Impact
The Kassala Steel Plant will serve as a regional game-changer by:
- Reducing delivery times and transportation costs to eastern and northeastern states
- Increasing steel accessibility for rural and underserved development zones
- Empowering local contractors with faster access to materials
- Creating job opportunities in technical, logistical, and administrative roles
